About Us
Communities of Faith, a project of the Texas Council on Family Violence, is an ecumenically and geographically diverse coalition of Texas faith leaders united to heighten informed awareness of the issue of domestic violence, its prevalence and impact, and appropriate intervention strategies involving meaningful partnerships with local domestic violence shelters and programs.
The Communities of Faith project engages and informs faith leaders, clergy and lay leaders in an effort to ensure adequate protection for victims of domestic violence and their children in relevant programs and public policy. We support the efforts of faith communities in holding batterers accountable for their actions, as well as offer our help to identify connections to the support they need to change their behavior. We unite the spiritual commitment of the faith community to the critical and life-saving work of domestic violence advocates and programs across the state. The mission is clear - take every step and engage every individual in all efforts to end domestic violence.
If you are a faith leader or member of a faith community interested in ending family violence in Texas or if you desire more information and/or public education materials, please contact the Texas Council on Family Violence at 512.794.1133 or e-mail pac@tcfv.org.
